Teams recently rolled out a couple of new features that might be of interest to you:
Live Chat: We recently rolled out a Teams-based live chat service to the handful of our clients that used our chat tools the most. We did this with a product that was built for companies like ours, but what if you just wanted to use Teams do have a basic sales chat widget on your Web site? Microsoft has recently released a tool that allows you to set this up. Here’s the video of it in action:
We did a little bit of testing with it, and while it’s not the most powerful chat tool in the world, its implementation is a bit funky, and its reporting features leave quite a bit to desired, it will suffice for basic needs (we have more than basic needs, so it won’t work for us). If you need more information on how to set it up for your organization, you can find Microsoft’s directions here.
Manage What Attendees See: Microsoft is giving you more control over what attendees see in your meetings. This is targeted primarily towards webinars and town-hall type meetings, but it will be useful for everybody. Currently, when a presenter shares content, it’s automatically displayed. This update will put shared content into a side panel “Manage Screen”. There you can manually bring it onto screen, giving you greater control over the attendee experience and keeping things smooth for all involved.
You can see it in action here:
This is currently a Teams Premium feature (as Teams Premium has more webinar and town-hall type features), according to the documentation, but bits of it may make it into the standard product in the future.
