This actually happened a while ago, but we just didn’t have a chance to share until now (and honestly, we weren’t sure the name change would stick). Microsoft has officially renamed the Microsoft 365 (Office) app to the Microsoft 365 Copilot app. Basically, the change was largely prompted by the growing integration of AI-powered Copilot features across Microsoft’s productivity suite, making the Copilot branding central (even for users who don’t actively use Copilot).
The App’s functionality as your starting point into the Microsoft 365 suite of services and Office desktop apps is the same, but the branding is now different.
Along with the rebrand, Microsoft is updating URLs for Office 365-related services. We mentioned a couple years ago that they were doing this, but now it has become the default across their cloud products. So you can now log into their services at https://m365.cloud.microsoft . You can see Microsoft’s list of IPs and URLs here in case you need to adjust allow lists on your network.
Historically, Microsoft has attempted similar renames, such as appending “.Net” to a range of products in the early 2000s, and renaming some Azure products into the Entra realm a few years back. It remains to be seen if folks will embrace the change or view it as just another confusing marketing shift.
