Massive Microsoft Systems Outage

Good Morning and Happy Friday!

You likely heard or have seen overnight headlines about Microsoft systems around the world crashing and not able to boot up properly (see headlines at https://www.bbc.com/news/live/cnk4jdwp49et). It’s a pretty major issue and has caused flight cancellations and healthcare access issues around the world. This issue was caused by an update from Crowdstrike, which is a cyber security vendor used by many large companies.

Weston does not use this vendor on our systems, so our systems (and systems we manage) should not be affected by this. However, you may have third-party and web-based services your company may use that are affected by this as they may be using Crowdstrike’s services (we’ve heard from one of our clients whose point-of-sale vendor is affected, as an example).

If you think one your vendors may be affected by this, please let us know and create a ticket so we can help monitor the situation and confirm with vendors (and similarly, let us know if things start working again). We understand that this can be frustrating as it’s affecting your ability to work, and we’re here to help however we can.

Thanks for choosing Weston for your support needs!
