We recently started a feature in our newsletter focused on how we truly take our core purpose – “To Better the Lives of Others” – seriously, and the impact some of those organizations we support are making. We’ve featured some great organizations already: Partners in Care, Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) of Central Oregon, New Each Morning, Foster & Adoptive Parent Association of Lane County, Hospice of Redmond, Habitat for Humanity, Convoy of Hope, Stone Soup Group, Kid’s Lab and Companion Animal Medical Project. This month, we’d like to feature an organization that helps heal emotionally and physically with the help of horses: Healing Reins.
Healing Reins provides people of all ages and abilities the opportunity to heal emotionally and physically through professionally recognized horse-centered therapies and horsemanship lessons. Through collaboration within the medical community and the assistance of over 100 volunteers, their PATH Int’l (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) certified staff provides safe and effective rehabilitative services to 190+ children, teens, and adults weekly. They also provide farm-based Mental Health Clinical Services 6 days a week on-site with a full-staff of licensed mental health therapists.
Among the services they offer:
- Horsemanship Services like adaptive horsemanship and recreational horsemanship.
- Therapy Services including Equine-Assisted Mental Health (EAMH), physical and occupational therapy.
Their mission is to heal with horses (and you can meet their horses here). They do this by offering nationally accredited, affordable, horse-centered therapies and experiences that bring strength, independence, confidence and joy to Central Oregonians of all ages and abilities.
In September, Healing Reins is putting on their 25th Diamonds & Dust fundraising gala at their newly constructed indoor arena at their new site in Tumalo, Oregon, and will include dinner, dancing, music, auction, and more. You can buy tickets for the event here.
