We mentioned this last year, but it now sounds like Microsoft has finally put down a bit of a timeline. To summarize, a couple years ago, Microsoft converted its commercial Office 365 licenses to the “New Commerce Experience” (NCE) pricing system, which basically meant price increases and less-flexible terms on Office 365 licensing. At that time, Non-Profit (NPO) and Government (GCC) licenses were off the hook and weren’t converted to NCE pricing (they had a slight increase in pricing but nothing like the NCE change). However, now that Microsoft has some firmer timelines for things, these conversions are going to start happening this summer, with full conversion expected to be completed by September.
Here’s what you can expect from a pricing standpoint for the most common licenses (all prices are monthly in USD):
- Microsoft Office 365 E1: $2.50 > $3.00
- Microsoft Office 365 E3: $5.75 > $6.90
- Microsoft Office 365 E5: $15.20 > $18.24
- Microsoft 365 E3: $9.00 > $10.80
- Microsoft 365 Business Premium: $5.50 > $6.60
These price changes do not affect any offers that are currently available as freebie grants to nonprofits, including:
- 10 licenses of Microsoft 365 Business Premium
- Up to 300 licenses of Microsoft 365 Business Basic
- Up to 2,000 licenses of Microsoft Office 365 E1
We firmly believe that Microsoft’s 365 offerings are still the best solutions for your non-profit organization. We do not markup monthly Office 365 licenses and will continue to only charge you what Microsoft would have charged you had you gotten the licenses directly from them.
